Mechayeh Moments Vol. 2: Harvest Season & Cannabis 101 (October 2026)
MECHAYEH NEWSLETTER // OCTOBER 2026 //VOLUME 2
WELCOME TO
Welcome to the October edition of MECHAYEH Moments!
It’s harvest season, and we are beyond excited for all of the outdoor flower that will be coming our way once the drying and curing process is complete. We are sending strength and good vibes to all of the outdoor farmers we work with!
We’ve been hard at work this month curating our packs and preparing for our in-person Cannabis 101 discussion. At MECHAYEH, we are dedicated to helping to destigmatize the plant, educate people on the facts, and discuss consumption intentionally and responsibly. Join us later this month at Montpelier’s Kellogg-Hubbard Library to learn more!
We hope this autumn brings you an opportunity to experience several MECHAYEH moments along with your pumpkin spice latte.
High Regards,
Melissa and David
Wait... WHAT does MECHAYEH mean, and how do I pronounce it?!?!
MECHAYEH (muh-HIGH-yuh): Yiddish for “to give life.” It’s that unexpected rush of joy that wakes you up to the present moment. Our mission? More of those!

Tried It, Loved It
Melissa's Pick: Sour Diesel by Honey Pie Gardens
I have to admit–I’m a sativa diva! I love energizing strains and Sour Diesel is definitely one of my top 3 all-time faves. Not only does it hit that old-school nostalgia that I love, the citrus and fuel aroma and flavors pair so well together. Honey Pie Gardens is located in Southgate, VT, where they grow hydroponically. Everything I have tried from Honey Pie Gardens is delicious and clean, and they are some of the kindest folks to work with! For me, this is a daytime strain that uplifts, energizes, and keeps me focused. It’s strong, so I only need a small amount to keep me going for hours.
David's Pick: Rainbow Sherbet by Old Growth
A featured player in our second “Bisl Pack”, this smooth and energetic strain has been a perfect complement to my return to jogging. Its uplifting, approachable, and sensible effect carried me through nearly six miles of running (the longest run in a year!), facilitated great conversation, and highlighted those bursts of orange and red that make Vermont’s autumn season world-renowned. Keep an eye out for this strain in both our Bisl Pack and in our next “Chai Pack” coming later this month.

Cannabis Policy Update
Federal Rescheduling of Medical Marijuana:
Lots happening in Cannabis news these days. On the federal level the Administrative Law Judge that is responsible for the rescheduling process has put proceedings on hold pending further information from other government agencies. Basically, this is another delay in the process of determining whether states’ medical marijuana programs should have a federal legal status that acknowledges a lower risk of abuse and some accepted medical use. This is a potentially major shift and the most significant acknowledgment of some of the positive value of cannabis.
Cannabis Repeal on the Ballot:
The upcoming election will feature two efforts to repeal laws legalizing cannabis in Maine and Massachusetts. These efforts are being led by anti-marijuana activists that are attempting to roll back the hard-fought freedoms won over decades of work by marijuana advocates. These repeal efforts make it clear that despite the gains over the last few decades the fight to allow adults to legally and responsibly consume cannabis continues! For those that are interested, bad asses at the Marijuana Policy Project continue to fight the fight and keep us informed on how we can be involved in fighting back against the repeal movement.
